Mixed media on Lana Vanguard paper.

Lana Vanguard paper from France is a synthetic plastic paper similar to Yupo paper. This multifunctional paper is bright white, very smooth, robust, acid-free and tear proof. With the benefits of not buckling even with very wet paint, it has a very white surface that makes colours brighter than on traditional watercolour paper and the ability to wipe back to white.

I haven’t used this type of paper before so this piece really is mixed media as I used just about every medium I have in the studio on it. Enamels, bronze powder, acrylic paint, paint pens, spray paint, charcoal, ink, pencils, etc.
The finished piece is rich in colour and texture, it has scrapped back paint layers and shimmering gold accents alongside blasts of crazed spray paint and sensuous trails of enamel.
