I wanted to experiment with burning books, to burn books is considered barbarism,  history describes it tending to go hand in hand with genocide, killing people and their thoughts, their story, their history.

This book was one of a pair that I burnt through, each page has a small burn in it, and the burns are then interpreted into a charcoal drawing.

I see faces everywhere and so this is what I saw in the burns and drew.

Its sister book is on permanent display in the committee room of Cleveland College of Art and Design.
